The mud bath slowly heats the body of the person receiving the treatment, causing a noticeable increase in sweat production. This activates thermoregulatory mechanisms that protect against overheating. No strong heat is felt during the treatment.
The main purpose of a mud bath in biological regeneration is to increase tissue temperature, which leads to improved oxygenation and nutrition. This, in turn, accelerates the utilization of metabolic products and the removal of exercise metabolites.
In addition to its chemical deacidification effect, this bath has been found to have anti-inflammatory properties, which can be extremely beneficial for athletes. Furthermore, it also affects the functioning of the autonomic nervous system. During the bath, there is an increase in the tension of the sympathetic part of the nervous system, while after the bath, the parasympathetic part of the autonomic nervous system dominates for several hours.
